Introduction

For this module we are required to produce two contrasting tracks by exploring a wide range of hardware equipment. In lesson over the next couple of months I’ll be learning and experimenting with lots of different types of hardware with the end result of me having a high level of understanding of the equipment to then be able to produce the tracks.

My idea for the first track will be compiling a large amount of audio recorded within studio sessions, from in class as well as booking out the studio by myself. From the all the audio I have curated, i’ll then be putting them into blank project to use as an arrangement, edit and mixing tool. I’ll be keeping it as close to the original hardware recordings as possible as this is what’s required in the module brief.

For my final composition, i’ll be doing a live performance purely using hardware. my idea so far is to use 1 or two modular racks, a synth (maybe the Prophet 8 or the Korg Minilog), a drum machine and possibly some FX units. I’ll be syncing all the clocks together to make sure everything is in time, then i’ll record myself performing live and also record the audio into Ableton.
