Today I went into the studio to add the finishing touches to my first modular track. I had done the majority of it in my first session (which I have previously made a blog post about) so today was all about just making sure I was completely happy with it.
Right now i’m just going to be explaining my process from start to finish on how I made this track. I had previously made where I made a project on my laptop on Logic just using software, to then go into the studio and try and recreate elements of this idea on hardware which is exactly what I did. Although I had made this plan, the hardware track turned out to be fairly different but it definitely helped me get an idea down quicker.
I recreated the main melody using the Plaits module and sequencing it through the Eloquencer. I got the pattern down on the sequencer and pitched it to right key, ran it through a reverb module, and then recorded roughly about 10-15 of the same pattern using almost every sound I could get from the Plaits. For the drums, I recorded individual one shots from a drum module so I could take those one shots and create a drum pattern in my DAW.
I then sifted through the Plaits recording to find the exact sound I knew would be best for this track, and then built the drum beat around that. Click the link below to hear the finished project.
